About Hargett Law
David B. Hargett, Esq., is a criminal defense attorney with a concentration in criminal appeals and habeas cases. Since 1996, Mr. Hargett has devoted the majority of his practice to criminal defense, direct appeals, habeas cases, and other post-conviction matters.
Mr. Hargett, a Richmond native, is a 1996 graduate of the University of Richmond’s law school, the T. C. Williams School of Law, in Richmond, Virginia.
Mr. Hargett has significant experience in criminal trials, state and federal appeals, habeas cases, and other post-conviction matters. He has lectured and published in these areas. Additionally, he has argued numerous cases in the Virginia Supreme Court and the Virginia Court of Appeals, with other arguments in the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and he has been counsel of record on petitions and amicus briefs in the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Hargett is licensed to practice law in all state courts of Virginia, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.
